Evelyn V. Russell, 65, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Hawkins County on August 10th, 1948 to the late Jack and Sue Horton. Evelyn was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a passion in life for her family and friends. She loved gardening and taking care of her flowers. She enjoyed going out monthly with her birthday girls and participating in her church activities.
Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, Ken Russell; a daughter, Kim Stevenson and her husband Pat of Raleigh, NC; 3 step-sons, Kenny Russell, Tab Russell and his wife Brenda and Greg Russell all of Kingsport, TN; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Helen Mosley and her husband Ron, Janice Christian, Polly Jones and her husband Dale and Anna Ruth Horton; 2 brothers, Thomas Horton and his wife Deb, and J.E. Horton; and she was mamaw to all the nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel at Oak Hill Funeral Home on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor David Salley and Pastor Morris Baker, officiating and Terry Bennett to sing.
The graveside service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Garden of Last Supper at Oak Hill Memorial Park. (Those wishing to attend the service should plan on arriving at the cemetery no later than 9:45 AM.)
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Gravelly Baptist Church-Building Fund, 500 Gravelly Road, Kingsport, TN 37660 or to the American Heart Association.
