Mrs. Edith P. Ketron, 95 of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12th, 2014 with her family by her side.
She was born on November 10th, 1918 to the late Jesse and Ida Mae Proffitt. Edith was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Other than her family, her passion was teaching. She loved teaching Sunday school and did so for over 60 plus years. Edith was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and many Bible Clubs.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Charlene Ketron; four sisters and three brothers.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 73 years, Ralph C. Ketron; two daughters, Charlotte Mowell and her husband Delmer, Naomi Mowell and her husband Larry; and son, Jerry Glenn Ketron and his wife Gwen; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel at Oak Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 15th, 2104 from 5 until 7 PM. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Dr. Jerry Glenn Ketron, officiating.
The graveside service will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11 AM at Oak Hill Memorial Park. (Those wishing to attend the service should plan on arriving at the cemetery no later than 10:45am.)
We are deeply grateful to so many people who have comforted and cared for Edith during the difficult last stages of her life. A very special thank you goes to the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice, Silver Angels, family, friends and neighborhood for their love and tender care.
The staff of Oak Hill Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Edith P. Ketron.
